They came from far and wide. They came to remember, to celebrate and admire.
And they came, most importantly, to commemorate a milestone.
The Central Michigan women's basketball program is marking its golden anniversary in 2017-18, and it began on Friday night with a dinner and program at the Anson Family Atrium inside the John G. Kulhavi Events Center.
The event was attended by some 130 current and former players, coaches, CMU administrators, university staff and supporters.
Among the featured speakers on Friday were CMU First Lady Elizabeth Ross, Associated Vice President/Director of Athletics Michael Alford, head coach Sue Guevara, and longtime CMU coach and administrator Marcy Weston.
Friday's festivities included an introduction video inside the Chippewas' home, McGuirk Arena and a tour of the facility.
On Saturday, members of the 2016-17 team will received their Mid-American Conference championship rings in a ceremony on the Kulhavi Court inside McGuirk Arena.
