Chippewa Volleyball Headed To MAC Tournament

ATHENS, Ohio - Despite a less-than-ideal final regular-season weekend, the Central Michigan volleyball team is headed to the Mid-American Conference Tournament.
The Chippewas fell in three sets to Ohio on Saturday to finish 7-9 in conference play. The loss came two nights after CMU fell to Eastern Michigan in five sets.
CMU is seeded seventh for the league tournament and will play sixth-seeded Western Michigan in a first-round match on Thursday, Nov. 16 at 7 p.m. The tournament will be played in Oxford, Ohio at Millett Hall on the campus of Miami (Ohio).
The Chippewas, who are 15-13 overall, split their two regular-season matches with Western (15-11). The winner plays third-seeded Ball State on Friday.
Ohio defeated the Chippewas, 25-22, 25-12, 25-21 on Saturday.
Jordan Bueter and Kalina Smith finished with seven kills apiece to lead the Chippewas, while Cortney Hiltabran had 12 digs and Emily Wenglikowski added 10.
Freshman setter Grace Butler finished with 30 assists.
Stephanie Olman finished with 12 kills to lead the Bobcats (16-14, 10-6).
