SETTING THE SCENE
The Central Michigan women's basketball team will take on San Diego State at 5:15 p.m. today, Friday, in the Junkanoo Jam in Bimini, Bahamas.
BACK AT IT
Today's game ends a seven-day break from competition for the Chippewas (2-1), who last took the court on Nov. 17 and posted a 79-58 victory at home over College of Charleston.
SCORING
The Chippewas are averaging 80 points per game, which ties them for 49th in the nation. All five CMU starters are averaging in double figures: Presley Hudson (23 points per game), Cassie Breen (17.3), Reyna Frost (11.7), Micaela Kelly (10.7) and Tinara Moore (10.3).
RANKINGS
The Chippewas are ninth in the CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top 25 poll. They are the only Mid-American Conference team in the poll.
WHERE THEY STAND
The Chippewas are the best free throw shooting team in the nation, knocking down their charity tosses at 90.6 percent clip. CMU ranks fifth nationally in 3-point field goals per game with 11.3 and are tied for 32nd in 3-point field goal percentage (40).
SCOUTING
San Diego State is 3-0 with victories over Presbyterian, Call State Northridge and Cal State Fullerton. All three of those wins came on the Aztecs' home floor. Iowa State is 2-1 and Tulane is 2-2. The Cyclones and Green Wave play today at 2 p.m.
NEXT
CMU will play its second and final game of the event on Saturday against either Iowa State or Tulane. The tipoff time for that game is TBA.
The Chippewas return to McGuirk Arena on Thursday, Nov. 30 (7 p.m.), to play host to Aquinas in a nonconference game.
