MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. - Central Michigan's Tinara Moore has been named the Mid-American Conference West Division Player of the Week for women's basketball.
Moore, a 6-foot-3 senior from Southgate, averaged 21 points, 15 rebounds and 3 blocks as the Chippewas went 2-0 to win the Junkanoo Jam in the Bahamas.
The Chippewas topped San Diego State, 85-76, in overtime and Iowa State, 81-60, in the tournament.
Moore made 16 of her 24 field goal attempts and 10 of her 13 free throw attempts in the tourney.
It marks the third time in her career that Moore has earned MAC West Player of the Week honors, and she is the second Chippewa to be so honored this season after Reyna Frost on Nov. 14.
The Chippewas (4-1), who are ranked ninth in the CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top 25, play host to Aquinas in a non-conference game on Thursday (7 p.m.).
