MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – The Central Michigan football team will take on Bowling Green in football for the first time in eight years next fall.
The Mid-American Conference on Tuesday released the Chippewas’ 2018 opponents. Dates and kickoff times will be released later.
CMU will play four MAC home games and four on the road next season.
The four MAC opponents that the Chippewas will play in Kelly/Shorts Stadium are Ball State, Western Michigan, Buffalo and Bowling Green. CMU is scheduled to play at Eastern Michigan, Northern Illinois, Toledo and Akron.
The Chippewas, who finished 6-2 in league play and tied for second in the MAC West this season, are scheduled to open the 2018 season on Sept. 1 at Kentucky. CMU will play a Big 12 Conference team for the third consecutive season when it takes on Kansas at home on Sept. 8. CMU has Maine at home on Sept. 22. On Sept. 29, the Chippewas go to Michigan State.
CMU last played Bowling Green, a member of the MAC East, in 2010. The Falcons won that game, 17-14. The Chippewas have not played Akron or Buffalo in either of the past two seasons. The Zips are the defending MAC East champions.
