
Chippewa Wrestlers Fall At South Dakota State

BROOKINGS, S.D. - The Central Michigan wrestling team surrendered bonus points in three of its six losses on Friday in dropping a 23-16 nonconference dual to South Dakota State.
The 19th-ranked Chippewas (1-2) are scheduled to wrestle on Sunday (3 p.m.) at North Dakota State. South Dakota State, which is ranked 17th, improved to 4-2.
The Chippewas got a pin from sophomore Logan Parks at 165 pounds and a 10-2 major-decision victory from junior Justin Oliver (149). CMU's Mason Smith (141) and Jordan Ellingwood (184) both won by decision.
Parks' pin came in 53 seconds and it was his second of the season. His first came a week ago in his opening match of the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational.
South Dakota State won by pin at 157, and by major decision at 133 and 197. The Jackrabbits also got wins by decision at 125, at 174, and at 285.
South Dakota State's David Kocer defeated CMU's CJ Brucki, 10-5, at 174 in the lone matchup featuring two ranked wrestlers. Kocer is ranked 12th by InterMat.com, while Brucki is ranked 15th.
