• The Central Michigan women's lacrosse team plays host to Marquette in the Chippewas' home opener.
• CMU split its two games last weekend on its season-opening road trip to Pennsylvania. The Chippewas opened with a 20-10 win over Saint Francis (Pa.), then dropped a match to Robert Morris, 21-6.
• Marquette's three losses have come to Louisville, 13-12; to 11th-ranked Notre Dame, 21-9; and to No. 17 Johns Hopkins, 12-10.
• The Chippewas, who are in their second year of varsity competition, set or tied a number of individual and team records in their season-opening win over Saint Francis, including goals in a game.
• Anna Schoonover scored a program-record six goals in the win over Saint Francis.
• Grace Gabriel and Julianna Shearer lead the Golden Eagles with eight goals apiece.
• CMU goes to Virginia Commonwealth on March 5 and plays its next home game on March 12 against Cincinnati.
• CMU coach Sara Tisdale: "We're capable of competing. We just need to bring it game in and game out. They showed it to us in practice on Monday, they showed it to us in the game (against Saint Francis) and it just needs to be consistent. For our new players, they're learning that every pass coming their way has to matter. Marquette is going to make you earn it. Outside factors can't be an excuse. Whether you've done this before or not you've got to find a way to do the basic things the right way. … We're expecting our players to make the hustle plays, and that doesn't matter if you're a first-year player or a fourth-year player."
