CMU Lacrosse Opens League Play At Home This Weekend

• Central Michigan opens Atlantic Sun play this weekend with two home matches, Friday vs. Mercer, and Sunday (noon) against Kennesaw State (4-2).
• The Chippewas have won their last two starts, 18-6, over Gardner-Webb; and 14-9 over Butler.
• Mercer dropped a 12-11 decision to Campbell in its last game, a week ago. The loss snapped a four-game win streak.
• Kennesaw State, which plays its league opener at Detroit Mercy on Friday, enters the weekend on a four-game win streak.
• Riley Huda leads the Chippewas with 25 points (7 goals, 18 assists), while Jocelyne Lemay has collected 20 points (team-high 17 goals, 3 assists).
• Dominique Hamman and Hope Murray have shared the majority of the time in the cage for CMU. Hamman, who has made five starts, has 51 saves and a .481 save percentage; Murray, who has made two starts, has 22 saves and a .415 save percentage.
• Hamman ranks second in the conference in save percentage and fourth in saves.
• The Chippewas rank fifth in the 11-team ASUN with 80 goals. Mercer (118) is first and Kennesaw State (90) is second.
• Mercer's Lindsey Zeltwanger and Kate Leone share the league lead with 24 goals apiece, and Zeltwanger is the points leader with 45. Teammate Erica Coyne ranks fourth in the conference with 19 goals, tied with Kennesaw State's Sydney Farwick.
• Zeltwanger also leads the ASUN in assists with 19. Huda ranks second.
• Kennesaw State is in its sixth year as a varsity program and is well on its way to setting a record for victories in a season. The Owls recorded five wins in each of the past two seasons.
• Mercer is in its fourth year as a varsity program and, like Kennesaw State, appears on its way to its best season in its young history. The Bears won a program-high seven games a year ago.
• The Chippewas, who are in their second year of varsity lacrosse, finished 6-10 a year ago.
• In league play last season, Mercer finished 4-4 and in fifth place; Kennesaw State was 3-5, sixth; and the Chippewas went 2-6 and placed seventh.
