Chippewas Drop ASUN Opener

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. - Meghan Segreti scored five goals and Eva Thorn had three on Friday as Mercer handed Central Michigan a 15-8 loss in the Chippewas' Atlantic Sun women's lacrosse opener at the CMU Lacrosse-Soccer Stadium.
The Chippewas (3-5) play host to Kennesaw State (5-2) on Sunday (noon) in an ASUN game. Kennesaw State defeated Detroit Mercy, 21-12, on Friday in its ASUN opener. The Owls have won five consecutive games.
Jocelyne Lemay scored five goals to lead the Chippewas on Friday, while Tyra Prince, Shannon Doyle and Riley Huda scored one each. Prince also had two assists.
Mercer (6-2) outshot the Chippewas, 37-26, and finished with a 15-10 advantage in draw controls.
Mercer led, 5-1, early in the second half when Lemay scored, unassisted, to pull CMU to 5-2. The Bears then reeled off six consecutive goals over a nine-minute span to pull away.
Dominique Hamman made 10 saves in goal for the Chippewas. Haleigh Wurzel posted 10 saves for the Bears.
