Chippewa Lacrosse Takes On VCU

• The Central Michigan women's lacrosse team plays at VCU on Sunday in a nonconference game.
• The Chippewas dropped their last game, 12-9, at home to Marquette on Feb. 23.
• The loss to the Golden Eagles was somewhat of a moral victory for the Chippewas, who are in their second year as a varsity program. In 2016, CMU lost to Marquette, 17-4.
• VCU defeated Gardner-Webb, 19-7. The Rams have won two of their last three games.
• Freshman Shannon Doyle leads the Chippewas in goals with eight, while sophomore Anna Schoonover has seven. Doyle, Schoonover and freshman Tyra Prince have registered nine points each.
• Doyle was named the the Atlantic Sun Defensive Player of the Week for her performance against Marquette. She led CMU with five caused turnovers.
• CMU freshman Hope Murray made six saves against Marquette. It was her first collegiate start.
• Freshman Molly Barcikowski leads VCU with 14 goals and 17 points. Sky Hyatt also a freshman, has 11 goals, 14 points.
• The Chippewas play host to Cincinnati in a nonconference game on Sunday, March 12.
