CLEARWATER, Fla. - Allison Curtis, Maison Kalina and Morgan Gardner had two hits apiece Wednesday to lead the Central Michigan softball team to a 10-2 victory over Butler in the USF Invitational.
The win was the second straight for CMU (10-7), which has won 10 of its last 12 starts. The Chippewas are off on Thursday and play two games on Friday, the first against Fort Wayne, the second against USC Upstate.
Hanna Warren (2-4) allowed seven hits, struck out eight and walked one for the victory. The game was called after five innings because of the run rule.
Erika Underwood doubled and drove in two runs for the Chippewas, who finished with 10 hits.
CMU scored three runs in the first, taking advantage of three walks, two wild pitches, a hit batsman, a stolen base, and an Underwood sacrifice fly.
The Chippewas collected six hits during a five-run second, after which they led 8-2. Kalina, Gardner and Andrea Perlberg each singled in a run, and Underwood had an RBI double during the inning.
