CMU Volleyball Opens With 2 Wins

WEST POINT, N.Y. - Having two wins under your belt is not at all a bad way to start on opening weekend.
The Central Michigan volleyball team would tend to agree.
The Chippewas swept St. Francis Brooklyn in three sets to open the Army Invitational on Friday at Army's Christl Arena. The Chippewas recorded their second victory of the day with a 3-1 win over Hartford, which is coached by former CMU assistant Mitch Kallick.
CMU is scheduled to conclude the season-opening invitational against the host Black Knights on Saturday (noon).
The Chippewas swept St. Francis, 25-19, 25-12, 25-22. They dropped the opening set to Hartford, 22-25, then bounced back to take the next three, 26-24, 25-23, 27-25.
Jordan Bueter led CMU with a combined 30 kills in the two matches, while Paige Carey added 23, Taylor Robertson had 17 and Lyza Myers added 15.
Freshman setter Grace Butler finished with 83 assists, while Megan Kern had five of the Chippewas' 14 aces.
Bueter topped the Chippewas with 26 digs, while Kern and Emily Wenglikowski had 24 each, Courtney Hiltibran finished with 22, Butler added 16.
Robertson had seven blocks and Bueter added five.
