Stanitzek Named To All-District Team

Fifth-year senior adds to growing list of accolades
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Central Michigan's Mitch Stanitzek has been named to the 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-District Football Team, which is selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
Stanitzek is a fifth-year senior defensive end from Grand Rapids who carries a 3.74 grade point average. He is working toward a master's degree in business administration after earning a bachelor of science degree last spring with a double major in marketing and logistics.
He is one of 25 football student-athletes named to the District 5 team. District 5 comprises Michigan, Ohio, Indiana and Illinois.
Stanitzek, a team captain, has recorded 36 tackles this season including 21 solos. He tied his career high with seven tackles in an Oct. 13 game against Ball State. He has totaled three sacks among 6.5 tackles-for-loss, and forced one fumble this season.
Stanitzek has appeared in 35 career games, logging 92 tackles including 57 solos with 8.5 sacks among 17 tackles-for-loss. He has one interception and two fumble recoveries.
Prior to the season, Stanitzek was named a semifinalist for the William V. Campbell Trophy, which recognizes the top college football scholar-athlete in the nation.
