Chippewa guard named MAC West Player of the Week for 7th time
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Central Michigan's Presley Hudson was named the Mid-American Conference West Division Player of the Week for women's basketball.
Hudson, a senior guard from Wayland, averaged 29 points per game in the Chippewas' two games last week, an 80-71 loss to South Dakota State and a 108-90 win over Western Kentucky.
Against the Jackrabbits, Hudson finished with a team-high 24 points and five assists and in the process became CMU's career leader in 3-pointers and assists.
Against Western Kentucky, Hudson scored 34 points and made six of her 11 3-point attempts as CMU improved to 2-1.
Hudson surpassed Cassie Breen, who played from 2014-18, to become CMU's all-time leader in 3-pointers with 310, and she supplanted Suzy Merchant (1988-91) as the program leader in assists with 465.
It marks the seventh time in her career that Hudson has earned the MAC West Player of the Week Award.
Hudson and the Chippewas play host to Central Florida in a nonconference game on Wednesday (5 p.m.).
