Ten Chippewas Earn Academic All-MAC

Idoni, Stanitzek named to honor squad for third time
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Ten Central Michigan football players were named to the Academic All-Mid-American Conference team for football for the 2018 season.
The Chippewas named to the team, with their hometown, year, grade point average, and major: Brandon Childress, Baldwin, junior, 3.23, communications; Nick Follmer, O'Fallon, Mo., redshirt freshman, 3.26, undecided; Luke Idoni, Fenton, senior, 3.76, biology/biomedical sciences and psychology; Kaden Keon, St. Louis, junior, 3.53, engineering technology; Oakley Lavallii, Boca Raton, Fla., sophomore, 3.34, entrepreneurship; Derek Smith, Grand Rapids, sophomore, 3.26, criminal justice; Devon Spalding, Canton, senior, 3.40, criminal justice; Mitch Stanitzek, Grand Rapids, graduate student, 3.74, master's of business administration; Robi Stuart, Saginaw, sophomore, 3.75, undecided; Clay Walderzak, Standish, senior, 3.23, construction management.
It marked the third time that both Stanitzek and Idoni have earned Academic All-MAC honors, and the second time that Keon, Lavallii, Smith and Walderzak have been so honored.
To be eligible, a player must have a cumulative GPA of 3.20 or better and have participated in at least 50 percent of his team's games.
