Ten Chippewas Earn Academic All-MAC

Five CMU runners repeat on academic honor squad
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Ten Central Michigan student-athletes were named Academic All-Mid-American Conference for the 2018 cross country season.
CMU is represented by seven women and three men. Five of the Chippewas – Luke Anderson, Mark Beckmann, Conor Naughton, Samantha Allmacher and Erin Zdrojewski – earned academic all-conference honors for the second consecutive season.
The Chippewas named to the squad with their hometown, year, grade point average and major: Anderson, Palms, junior, 3.62, undecided; Beckmann, Waterloo, Ind., junior, 3.27, physical education; Naughton, Northville, sophomore, 3.60, sport management; Allmacher, Utica, senior, 3.93, biology; Natalie Beaulieu, Newberry, junior, 3.83, exercise science; Anna Garcia Arias, Valdeorras, Spain, sophomore, 3.37, undecided; Carissa Gobbi, Guelph, Ont., Can., sophomore, 3.83, exercise science; Morgan Merlino, Farmington, sophomore, 3.64, mathematics; Kirsten Olling, Wheeler, senior, 3.32, dietetics; Zdrojewski, Cass City, junior, 3.75, undecided.
To be eligible for Academic All-MAC honors, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.2 or better and have participated in at least 50 percent of his or her team's competitions.
