The postponed Western Michigan at Central Michigan men's basketball game will be played at 11 a.m. Saturday at Northwood University in Midland, the Mid-American Conference announced this evening.
In addition, an update on the MAC Wrestling Championships – scheduled to be conducted at Central Michigan on Saturday and Sunday – will be provided no later than 11 a.m. Saturday. A schedule of events will be announced once finalized.
The Mid-American Conference game of two in-state rivals was postponed Friday because of an on-campus shooting and will be the last regular-season game for both teams.
The game at Northwood University's Riepma Arena will not be open to the public. Family members and those identified on each institution pass list will be able to enter the arena.
"I'd like to thank Northwood University President and CEO Keith Pretty and Athletic Director Dave Marsh for making their facilities available to us," Associate Vice President and Director of Athletics Michael Alford said. "We had long discussions today about how best to ensure the game is played without getting in the way of events on our campus. This solution also helps Western Michigan, our team and the MAC finish the season and get ready for the MAC Basketball Tournament."
Presently, Central Michigan (17-13, 6-11 MAC) holds the No. 9 seed for the MAC Tournament and would play No. 8 Bowling Green on the road. However, the seeding could change based on the result of the game against Western Michigan (17-13, 9-8 MAC).
