MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. - Junior midfielder Logan Halvorson has received Southern Conference Defensive Player of the Week honors for her contributions in helping Central Michigan to non-conference wins over Duquesne and Saint Francis (Pa.).
Against Duquesne on Thursday, Halvorson was central to a defensive effort that held the Dukes to just one goal over the final 45 minutes of the game, allowing the Chippewas to erase a 7-1 deficit and claim a 15-8 victory.
In the 17-12 win over Saint Francis on Saturday, Halvorson was active, recording six ground balls, two caused turnovers and one draw control. On the offensive end, she added her first goal of the season.
A preseason All-SoCon selection, Halvorson leads the Chippewas in ground balls (24) and caused turnovers (9).
Halvorson is the third Chippewa to be recognized by the SoCon this season. Junior midfielder Jocelyne Lemay earned SoCon Defensive Player of the Week on March 6 and was also the SoCon Player of the Month for February. Sophomore midfielder Shannon Doyle was named offensive player of the week on Feb. 27.
Central Michigan resumes its seven-game home stand on Thursday, March 29 when it hosts Mercer in its SoCon opener. First draw is scheduled for 5 p.m. at the CMU Lacrosse Complex.
