
Chippewas Drop Series Finale At Ohio

ATHENS, Ohio - The Central Michigan softball team dropped its final game, 5-1, to conclude a Mid-American Conference opening series against Ohio on Saturday.
The Chippewas (9-15, 0-3 MAC) will have their home opener on Tuesday as they host a nonconference doubleheader against Valparaiso (12-11).
IN THE CIRCLE
Losing pitcher Laura Vaccaro (2-2) allowed five runs on six hits over 5 2/3 innings. Samantha Howell pitched in relief, allowing one hit.
Winning pitcher Madi McCrady (4-4) allowed four hits and one run. She also struck out four.
AT THE PLATE
The Bobcats seized a 2-0 lead in the first inning on a Natalie Alvarez RBI single and a run-scoring double by Michaela Dorsey.
Lacy Tolfree, Erika Underwood, Morgan Gardner, Shaidan Knapp and Rachel Vieira had one hit each for Central Michigan. The Chippewas got their run in the fourth inning when Tolfree singled, was bunted to second, stole third and scored on an Underwood single.
