SETTING THE SCENE
Riding a four-game win streak, the Central Michigan lacrosse team will look to keep up the momentum as it travels to Old Dominion and Coastal Carolina this weekend for two nonconference games.
The Chippewas will face Old Dominion in Norfolk, Va., on Friday (3 p.m.) then close the weekend against Coastal Carolina in Conway, S.C., on Sunday (11 a.m.).
SOUTHERN CONFERENCE HONOR
CMU's Jocelyn Lemay was named the Southern Conference Defensive Player of the Week last week after helping lead the Chippewas to two road victories. The junior scored four goals on seven shots and also had four ground balls, three caused turnovers, and eight draw controls.
WHERE THEY STAND
Central Michigan is 9-5 and leads the SoCon at 4-0. The Chippewas clinched a spot in the league tournament last weekend with wins at Furman and at Wofford.
NEXT
Both games this weekend are nonleaguers. The Chippewas go to Detroit Mercy on April 28 in a game that will decide the SoCon regular-season champion. The Titans are 3-1 in league play. The winner will claim the outright regular-season crown and the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament.
THE LEADERS
Anna Schoonover has tallied a team-high 66 draw controls this season. She broke her own program record with 12 last week against Wofford.
Schoonover also leads CMU leads with 41 points (31 goals, 10 assists). She is tied for fourth in the league in goals per game (2.21).
CMU's Jessica Schuchardt is third in the SoCon with 26 assists.
Chippewa goalkeeper Dominique Hamman has recorded 73 saves in 467-plus minutes this season.
