
Hansen Delivers As Chippewas Snap 3-Game Losing Streak

MUNCIE, Ind. - Sara Hansen's bases-loaded RBI single with one out in the sixth inning broke a 1-1 tie and lifted Central Michigan a 2-1 victory over Ball State on Friday in the opener of a three-game Mid-American Conference series at the Cardinals' BSU Softball Complex.
The win snapped a three-game losing streak as the Chippewas improved to 19-18, 9-6 MAC. Ball State is 27-16, 9-6. The teams are tied for third in the MAC West.
The series is scheduled to conclude on Saturday with a doubleheader (1 p.m.).
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Chippewas trailed 1-0 and tied it in the fifth when Maison Kalina tripled and scored on passed ball.
CMU used a walk, a bunt single and an error to load the bases with one out in the sixth when Hansen singled to center, bringing home Kayla Noch with the go-ahead run.
AT THE PLATE
The Chippewas outhit the Cardinals, 6-4. Kalina's triple was the lone extra-base hit in the game. Erika Underwood, Noch, Shaidan Knapp and Allison Curtis each singled for CMU.
IN THE CIRCLE
Laura Vaccaro (5-3) picked up the victory and Hanna Warren notched the save.
CMU starter Taylor Weaver allowed one run on two hits while walking three over three innings. Vaccaro surrendered one hit and walked three in two innings, and Warren went the final two frames. The lone blemish on Warren's line was a two-single in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Ball State starter Aeshia Miles (14-8) took the loss.
