MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. - Central Michigan's Anna Schoonover was named the Southern Conference Offensive Player of the Week.
Schoonover, a junior from Eagan, Minn. had seven goals and three assists for 10 points in the Chippewas' two games last week.
She had four goals, two assists and five draw controls as CMU downed Mercer, 15-13, in the first SoCon game in Chippewa history. She followed with three goals and one assist in the Chippewas' 14-11 nonconference loss to Kennesaw State.
She also registered four draw controls and two ground balls against the Owls. The two games took on special emotional significance for Schoonover as they were designated "Play for Patrick" contests in honor of her late brother who passed away due to an undetected heart defect while play hockey.
The Chippewas, who have won three of their last four games and are 5-5, 1-0 SoCon, play host to Howard in a nonconference game on Friday at the CMU Lacrosse Stadium, and then entertain Delaware State on Sunday in a SoCon game.
