MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. - Eight members of the Central Michigan lacrosse team earned All-Southern Conference on Tuesday as the league announced its all-conference team.
CMU's Natalie Karlen, Jocelyne Lemay and Shannon Doyle were named to the All-SoCon First Team; teammates Anna Schoonover, Tyra Prince, Logan Halvorson and Dominique Hamman each earned a spot on the second team; and Hannah Potter was named to the All-Freshman squad.
It is the inaugural season for Southern Conference lacrosse. The Chipewas begin play in the league tournament against Furman in a semifinal game at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday in Macon, Ga. Host Mercer and regular-season league champion Detroit Mercy meet in the first semifinal at 5 p.m. on Thursday. The title game is scheduled for Saturday at noon.
Lemay, a junior midfielder, was named to an all-conference team for the third time in her career. She was named First Team All-Atlantic Sun last season and earned a spot on the All-ASUN Second Team in 2016, CMU's first season of varsity lacrosse.
Halvorson earned Second Team All-ASUN honors last season.
Karlen leads the Chippewas with 51 points (30 goals, 21 assists), while Lemay is second on the team with 34 goals. Doyle, who has 31 goals and eight assists, carries a team-best .536 shot percentage.
