Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
Down 25-24 in the second set and on the verge of falling into a two-set deficit, CMU scored three straight points to pull out the set and even the match.
Â
The Chippewas split the next two sets before rallying late again in the fifth set to win the set and match.
Â
"We challenged our group to keep fighting regardless of what the score was," CMU coach Mike Gawlik said. "More than the win I was really happy with the fight and the finish from our group."
Â
MYERS EFFICIENT
The sophomore posted an outstanding .417 hitting percentage, leading to 16 kills. Myers had just one attack error on the afternoon on 36 total attempts.
Â
"We thought that the right side could be a plus for us," Gawlik said. "I thought that Lyza did a really good job of knowing what we wanted to do. She had a great match."
Â
GAWLIK
"We had a lot of different contributions from a lot of different people. All in all, I'm pretty pleased. It's going to be a happy bus ride home but there's still a lot that we have to work at."
