Chippewa Wrestlers Entertain North Dakota State

Bison lineup features three ranked wrestlers
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – The Central Michigan wrestling team returns to McGuirk Arena on Thursday (7 p.m.) for a non-conference dual meet with North Dakota State.
The Chippewas split a pair of Mid-American Conference duals on the road last weekend, falling to fifth-ranked Missouri, 32-15, and topping Southern Illinois Edwardsville, 32-10. CMU is 3-4 overall, 2-2 MAC.
THE BISON
North Dakota State is 6-5 after dropping nonconference duals at home last week to No. 21 Iowa State, 29-7and to No. 18 Pitt, 22-11.
RANKINGS
CMU 285-punder Matt Stencel, a sophomore, moved up to No. 9 in the national rankings (The Open Mat) this week after recording two pins in duals last weekend at Missouri and at SIUE. His win at Missouri came over Zach Elam, who was ranked 16th nationally and first in the MAC. Stencel, the defending MAC champion at 285, was ranked second in the MAC coaches poll.
The win at SIUE on Sunday afternoon was Stencel's ninth consecutive and he improved to 18-4 with 14 pins. He shares the national lead in falls with Colston DiBlasi of George Washington and on Wednesday was named the MAC Wrestler of the Week.
Three Bison, Brent Fleetwood, Cam Sykora and Andrew Fogerty, are ranked by The Open Mat. Fleetwood (17-3), a former Chippewa, is ninth at 125 pounds; Sykora (15-6) is 15th at 133; and Fogarty (12-3) is 20th at 165.

CMU plays host to Ohio in a MAC dual on Sunday, Feb. 3 (2 p.m.).
