MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Another Monday, another award-winning day for the Central Michigan volleyball program.
Three Chippewas earned awards from the Mid-American Conference on Monday after the Chippewas improved to 6-0 in league play over the weekend by topping Ball State on Friday and then downing Toledo on Saturday.
CMU's Kalina Smith earned the MAC West Defensive Player of the Week Award, while Grace Butler and Kendall Braate teamed up to win the West Setter of the Week Award for the third time in four weeks.
It marks the first time that Smith has won an individual award this season after teammate Megan Kern had captured it for the previous three consecutive weeks.

Braate, a sophomore from Byron Center, posted 24 assists against Ball State and then finished with 27 against Toledo on Saturday.
Braate and Butler led the charge as the Chippewas posted a season-high 61 assists against the Rockets and 59 – CMU's second-highest total of the season – against Ball State.
