Ward Earns Weekly MAC Award

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Central Michigan's Jonathan Ward has been named the Mid-American Conference West Division Offensive Player of the Week for his performance in the Chippewas' 45-44 victory at Ball State on Saturday.
Ward, a senior from Kankakee, Ill., scored four rushing touchdowns and finished with 135 all-purpose yards, 105 on the ground on 24 carries and 30 on four pass receptions. His 18-yard catch-and-run on third-and-7 triggered CMU's game-winning drive late in the fourth quarter.
The four touchdowns marked a career high for Ward, and he became the first Chippewa to score four rushing TDs in a game since Zurlon Tipton accomplished the feat against Eastern Michigan in 2013.
It marks the second time this season that Ward has earned the MAC West Offensive Player of the Week Award. He earned the honor after CMU's 42-16 victory over Eastern Michigan on Oct. 5.
CMU has won five of its last six games and stands 7-4 overall, 5-2 MAC. It shares first place in the West with Western Michigan. CMU closes the regular season at home on Nov. 29 with a MAC game against Toledo.
