Oliver Earns MAC Honor

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. -- Central Michigan's Michael Oliver was named the Mid-American Conference West Division Defensive Player of the Week for his performance in the Chippewas' 49-7 victory on Friday over Toledo.
Oliver, a senior from Detroit, had a team-high eight tackles and 1.5 tackles-for-loss as he spearheaded a defense that held the Rockets to just 256 yards of total offense, including 83 on the ground, nearly 160 below their season average.
It marks the second time this season that Oliver has earned the MAC West Defensive Player of the Week Award.
The victory clinched the MAC West title for CMU and sent it to the MAC Championship Game on Saturday, Dec. 7 at Ford Field in Detroit against Miami (Ohio). The Chippewas are 8-4 and finished 6-2 in MAC play.
