Chippewas take on Wofford on Friday, Furman on Sunday
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. -- The Central Michigan lacrosse team will host two important Southern Conference games this weekend at the CMU Soccer/Lacrosse Complex.
Â
The first game is on Friday, April 12 against Wofford (6 p.m.). The second is against Furman on Sunday, April 14 (11 a.m.).
Â
WHERE THEY STAND
CMU is 5-7, 1-1 SoCon, and coming off back-to-back historic wins, the first against Delaware State, and the second against Howard, last weekend. CMU won the games by a combined 39-2.
Â
Wofford is 2-10, 0-1 and is coming off a 19-8 loss to Kennesaw State. The Terriers have lost five consecutive games.
Â
Furman is 6-6, 1-0 and is coming off a win 13-11 SoCon victory over Mercer. The Paladins are scheduled to play at Detroit Mercy in a league game on Friday.
Â
Furman is the lone unbeaten team in SoCon play. CMU is tied for third place with Detroit Mercy, which is also 1-1 in league play. The Chippewas' league loss came at Mercer, 19-12, on March 31.
Â
The Chippewas are in no way, shape or form looking past Wofford on Friday, but Sunday's game with Furman could go a long way in deciding the eventual league champion.
Â
"I think we were disappointed in our effort at Mercer," CMU coach Sara Tisdale said. "We knew we were capable of playing much better. Last week taught us a lot about ourselves, so I think we're looking forward to showing what our true potential is against Furman on Sunday."
Â
Â
TEAM LEADERS
Jocelyne Lemay leads CMU in goals with 31, and is second on the team in points with 35. Natalie Karlen leads the Chippewas in points with 39 (29 goals 10 assists).

Â
