CMU junior broke her own program record in the long jump
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Central Michigan's Nadia Williams was named the Mid-American Conference Track & Field Athlete of the Week on Tuesday for her performance at the Tennessee Relays.
Williams, a junior from Mount Horeb, Wis., turned in her best performance of the outdoor season when she placed second with a wind-aided leap of 20 feet, 9 ¼ inches at Tennessee's LaPorte Stadium. Williams also jumped 20-5 in the meet, breaking her own program record. The 20-9 ¼ did not count as the program standard because it was wind aided. Williams' previous long-jump mark was 20-1.
Williams, who earned All-America honors with a sixth-place finish at the NCAA Indoors Championships in March, is ranked first in the long jump in the Mid-American Conference and 27th nationally.
