Moffo, Perry Earn MAC Honors

CMU hurdler, long jumper bring home firsts from Virginia Challenge

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Central Michigan track & field team members Shane Moffo and Janelle Perry have been honored by the Mid-American Conference for their performances last weekend at the Virginia Challenge.

Moffo, a senior from Farmington Hills, earned the Men's Track Athlete of the Week Award for placing first in the 110-meter hurdles. Moffo finished in 13.87 seconds, the top time for a MAC athlete this season in the event. It is also the 21^st-best time of the year among NCAA Division I hurdlers.

Perry, a senior from Akron, Ohio, had a career day in posting a 21-foot, 2 ½-inch leap in winning the long jump to earn the MAC Female Field Athlete of the Week Award. Her mark, which was wind aided, is the best among MAC jumpers this season and is No. 6 in NCAA Division I. Her 20-7 ¾ leap, which was wind legal, broke the CMU program record (20-5) set one week prior by Nadia Williams. Perry also placed second in the 100-meter hurdles in 13.34 seconds.
