14 Chippewas Headed To NCAA First Round

Nadia Williams, Logan Targgart qualify for third time
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Fourteen Central Michigan student-athletes are headed to the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field East Preliminary at North Florida in Jacksonville May 23-25.
Three Chippewas, all women, have qualified in multiple events. Senior Megan O'Neil has qualified in both the 5,000-meter run and the 10,000; senior Janelle Perry has qualified in the long jump and the 100-meter hurdles; and sophomore Erin Howard qualified in the shot put and the discus.
Other Chippewa women qualifiers: Gabriella Beauvais, 400-meter dash; Nadia Williams, long jump; Siobhan Szerencsits, pole vault; Megan McElroy, javelin; Marissa Dunn, hammer throw; and Quiara Wheeler, hammer throw.
For the Chippewa men, Shane Moffo qualified in the 110 hurdles; Jack Dodge in the 400; Jackson Blanchard in the 400 hurdles; Kevin Weiler in the shot put; and Logan Targgart in the hammer throw.
It marks the third-consecutive year that Targgart and Williams have qualified for the preliminary. Williams finished sixth in the long jump, earning All-America honors, at the NCAA Indoor Championships in March.
It marks the second-consecutive year that Beauvais, Dunn, Moffo and Weiler have qualified.
The West Regional is scheduled for Cal State Sacramento. The top 12 in each event from both regionals advance to the NCAA Championships, which are scheduled for June 5-8 in Austin, Texas.
