MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – With the close of another school year, grades are in, revealing that Central Michigan student-athletes are continuing to excel academically in the classroom as well as athletically in competition.
Â
CMU student-athletes earned a cumulative grade point average of 3.180 for the spring, 2019 semester, marking the 41st consecutive semester that that number has been 3.00 or higher.

Overall, the cumulative GPA of Chippewa student-athletes is 3.236.
Â
"The young men and women that make up our programs embody what it means to be a true student-athlete," said Zyzlewski Family Associate Vice President/Director of Athletics Michael Alford. "They fully understand the importance of balancing academics with their athletic pursuits and they value what a Central Michigan education means and has to offer."
Â
"I am proud of their accomplishments as they continue to positively represent the athletic department, the university and the community."
Â
Central Michigan student-athletes' commitment to and success in the realm of academics is also reflected in the Academic Progress Rates (APR) issued by the NCAA.
Â
In the NCAA's latest report, CMU had a department-record 986 all-sport single-year APR and seven programs possessed a 1000 single-year APR (women's basketball, field hockey, golf, gymnastics, lacrosse, soccer, volleyball).
Â
The APR provides a real-time look at a team's academic success each semester by tracking the academic progress of each student-athlete on scholarship. The APR accounts for eligibility, retention and graduation and provides a measure of each team's academic performance.
