Howard Earns All-America Honors

Chippewa 19th at NCAA Outdoor Championships
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Central Michigan's Erin Howard earned All-America honorable mention for her performance at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships at the University of Texas' Mike A. Myers Stadium.
Howard, a sophomore from Lansing, placed 19th in the women's shot put with a throw of 51 feet, 7 ¾ inches. The top eight finishers in each event earn First Team All-America honors, while those athletes placing ninth-16th are named to the second team.
The athletes finishing 17th-24th earn honorable mention.
It was a remarkable finish for Howard, the program record holder in the event who finished 11th in the first round of the NCAA, also known as the East Preliminary, after being seeded 19th. The top 12 finishers in the preliminary advanced to the NCAA Championships.
Howard and teammate Nadia Williams earned All-America honors in outdoor track & field. Williams placed 14th in the women's long jump to garner second-team accolades. She earned First Team All-America honors at the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships in March with a sixth-place finish in the long jump.
