Volleyball Earns AVCA Team Academic Award

LEXINGTON, Ky.—For the third time in the last five years the Central Michigan volleyball team has been recognized for its academic success by earning the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award for the past academic year.

Programs are eligible for the Team Academic Award by maintaining a grade-point average of 3.3 or higher for the preceding academic year. The award was created in the 1992-93 academic year to honor collegiate and high school volleyball teams that displayed excellence in the classroom. The Team Academic Award is the single largest award offered by quantity of schools, players and coaches honored.

The Chippewas were also one of 23 teams in Division I to reach their "Dig Pink" fundraising goal which targets breast cancer research and treatment.

CMU also had five student-athletes named to the Mid-American Conference All-Academic Team this past season.
