CMU Athletics Announces 2019 Hall of Fame Class

Five individuals and one team a part of this year's class.
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. - Central Michigan University is set to induct five former Chippewa greats and one team into the Marcy Weston Athletics Hall of Fame this fall.
Set to receive the highest honor bestowed by the department are baseball player Josh Collmenter (2005-07), women's track & field athlete Maria Derezinski (1999-2002), volleyball player Shaleene Glombowski (2000-03), wrestler Bubba Gritter (2005-08), soccer player Kjersten Kuhlman (1999-2001), and the 1979 football team.
The class will be enshrined on Friday, Nov. 1, in a ceremony at the CMU Events Center. The free event is open to the public and begins at 7 p.m. The group will also be recognized at halftime of the CMU-Northern Illinois football game at Kelly/Shorts Stadium on Saturday, Nov. 2.
Josh Collmenter | Baseball | 2005-07
Earned third team All-America honors in 2007 … named the 2007 Mid-American Conference Pitcher of the Year, one of three CMU players to earn the honor … named first team All-MAC in 2007 and second team in 2006 and in 2005 … selected for the All-Mideast region team in 2007 … named a Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American in 2005 … named team MVP in 2006 and in 2007 … when he left CMU, he held the program record for career strikeouts with 288 … also ranks in CMU's career top 10 in wins (24), decisions (34), innings pitched (4), and earned run average (2.63) … finished the 2007 season with the second-most strikeouts in program history (117) … named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District IV second team in 2007 … selected to the Academic All-MAC team in 2006 and in 2007 … drafted by the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2007 … made his major league debut in 2011 and pitched seven seasons in the major leagues.
Maria Derezinski | Women's Track & Field | 1999-2002
Earned All‐America honors in the heptathlon at the 2002 NCAA Outdoor Championships … won outdoor MAC titles in the long jump (2001) and in the heptathlon (2002) … helped the Chippewas win the 2002 MAC Indoor Championship … Qualified for the NCAA Indoor Championships in the high jump in 2001 … earned CoSIDA Academic All‐District honors in 2002 … named to the MAC Academic Honor Roll in 2000 … held program records in the indoor long jump (19-8), indoor triple jump (39‐7), indoor pentathlon (3,844), outdoor long jump (19‐11) and outdoor heptathlon (5,268) at the end of her career.
Shaleene Glombowski | Volleyball | 2000-03
Earned first team All-MAC honors in 2003 and second team honors in 2002 … led CMU to its only MAC West title in 2003 … In 2003, had the ninth-most assists (1,582) in MAC history and the 10th most assists per gasme (13.3) … selected the ACVA "National Player of the Week" in 2002 … still holds CMU's career assists record (4,428) and the single-season mark (1,582) during the rally scoring era … has three of CMU's top seven marks in single-seasons assists … in CMU's career records, ranks fifth in service aces (92), sixth in total blocks (232) and seventh in block assists (221) … set CMU's single-match record for assists with 80 against Marshall in 2003.
Bubba Gritter | Wrestling | 2005-08
Two-time All-American including a fifth-place finish at the NCAA Championships in 2007 … advanced to the national semifinals in 2007 … two-time MAC champion … named the Chick Sherwood Award winner (team MVP) in 2007 … helped CMU capture four-straight MAC regular-season and tournament titles during career … helped CMU finish seventh at the 2008 NCAA Championships and 15th at the 2007 national tournament … was a NWCA All-Academic selection in 2007-08 … finished career with a 106-34 record (.757 winning percentage) with 17 falls … went 32-7 in 2007 and 30-6 in 2008.
Kjersten Kuhlman | Soccer | 1999-2001
Earned second team All-Region honors in 1999, the first CMU soccer player to do so … named to the All-MAC first team in 1999 and to the second team in 2000 and in 2001 … led CMU to the MAC Tournament championship game as a senior … helped CMU to a second-place MAC regular-season finish in 1999, just CMU's second year as a program … named to the MAC Academic Honor Roll in 2000 … started 49 games during her career, scoring six goals with five assists for 17 points.
1979 Football Team | Head Coach Herb Deromedi
Won CMU's first Mid-American Conference title in football, going 8-0-1 in the league … finished the season 10-0-1, the only time in CMU's Division I history the program has gone undefeated … finished the season with a victory at San Jose State, the Big West Conference champions … ranked as the No. 12 team in the country by ABC Sports Television … quarterback Gary Hogeboom was named the MAC Offensive Player of the Year … seven players earned All-MAC first team honors and three were selected to the second team … the CMU defense gave up just 12.1 points per game and posted four shutouts.
