DeKALB, Ill. – The Central Michigan wrestling team dropped a 19-12 decision to Northern Illinois on Sunday in a Mid-American Conference dual at the Huskies' Convocation Center.
It was the 24th-ranked Chippewas' second dual loss of the weekend. CMU fell on Friday to fifth-ranked Virginia Tech, 20-16.
"We just weren't ready to wrestle today," CMU coach Tom Borrelli said. "Take nothing away from NIU, they outwrestled us and they really wanted to beat us. We just didn't meet the challenge.
"You can't point your finger at one guy. It's just not being ready to perform. None of our guys performed up to what they're capable of."
It was NIU's first dual victory over the Chippewas since 2003.
CMU decision victories from Drew Hildebrandt (125 pounds), Logan Parks (157), Landon Pelham and Matt Stencel. Hildebrandt, Pelham and Stencel each finished 2-0 on the weekend.
The Chippewas, who are 2-3, 2-1 MAC, next wrestle in two weeks when they entertain Missouri (Jan. 17) and SIUE (Jan. 19) in league duals at McGuirk Arena.
