
Two Chippewas Earn Weekly SoCon Honors

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Two Central Michigan lacrosse players have been honored with weekly awards from the Southern Conference
CMU's Jessica Schuchardt was named the SoCon Offensive Player of the Week and goalkeeper Hope Murray was named the league's Defensive Player of the Week for their performances in CMU's dominating 14-2 home victory on Sunday over Butler.
Schuchardt, a senior attacker from Westminster, Md., had a goal and five assists for six points in the victory.
Murray, a senior from West Linn, Ore., made six saves and posted an .857 save percentage against the Bulldogs. She recorded a turnover early in the game, aggressively coming off her line to intercept a Bulldog pass and give CMU possession.
CMU (1-1) plays at Cincinnati on Sunday, March 1, in a nonconference game.
