
Lacrosse Honored for Academics

Twenty-six Central Michigan lacrosse student-athletes were honored by the Southern Conference
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Twenty-seven Central Michigan lacrosse student-athletes were honored by the Southern Conference as the league revealed its academic awards.
Eight Chippewas received the league's top academic award, the Commissioner's Medal. The Chippewas landed 26 on the Southern Conference Honor Roll, and 15 on the SoCon Spring Academic All-Conference Team.
The honor roll goes to a student-athlete who achieves an academic-year grade point average of 3.0 or better; those named to the academic all-conference team carry a cumulative GPA of 3.3 or better and participated in at least 50 percent of her team's games; the Commissioner's Medal is awarded to student-athletes who have a cumulative GPA of 3.80 or better.
True freshmen and first-year transfers are ineligible for the academic all-conference team.
CMU seniors Shannon Doyle, Jessica Schuchardt and Hannah Potter in addition to freshmen Kelly Hoyt, Kendall Hoyt, Maggie Huizinga, Sierra Savage and Audrey Whiteside received the Commissioner's Medal. It is the third-consecutive year that Doyle has been so honored and the second-straight for Huizinga.
Doyle is a senior exercise science/kinesiology major from Mars, Pa. who carries a 3.93 GPA; Schuchardt is a senior biology major from Westminster, Md., with a 3.93 GPA; and Potter who is a language arts major, is a senior with a 3.81 GPA. Potter hails from Noblesville, Ind.
Doyle, Schuchardt and Potter were also named to the academic all-conference team and to the honor roll.
