6-4 guard comes to CMU from Iowa Western CC
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – The Central Michigan men's basketball program announced Wednesday that Caleb Huffman will be joining the Chippewas for the 2020-21 season.
Huffman, a 6-4, 181-lb. shooting guard, spent the previous two seasons at Iowa Western Community College in Council Bluffs, Iowa, where he led the Reivers to a total of 38 wins. In 2019-20, Huffman averaged 16.1 points, shooting 49 percent from the field, 4.5 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game, earning NJCAA Region XI Second Team honors.
"Caleb is a very talented player that our staff targeted early for our 2020 recruiting class," said CMU head coach Keno Davis. "We believe that Caleb can be a lockdown defender on one end of the court, while being a highly-regarded scoring threat on the other."
In 2018, as a freshman, Huffman scored 11.3 points per game in helping IWCC to the NJCAA Region XI semifinals.
"Caleb had a great career at Iowa Western and we appreciate all that he did for our program," said Reivers head coach Chad Van Riessen. "He is an explosive and athletic guard that can score on all three levels. I'm excited to see what he accomplishes for Central Michigan."
At Broken Arrow High School, Huffman led the Tigers to three consecutive Oklahoma State Tournament appearances. In Huffman's senior season, BAHS posted an impressive 25-3 record, as he earned Frontier Valley Conference Boys Basketball Player of the Year. He averaged 17.5 points per game in the final eight conference contests and then scored 21.2 points per game points in five playoff games.
