
Individual, Team Academic Honors For CMU Track & Field

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. -- Two Central Michigan student-athletes have been named an All-Academic Athlete by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association for the 2020 season.

Logan Targgart of the CMU men's track & field team and Kasey Staley of the women's team earned the prestigious honor. In addition, both the Chippewa men's team and the women's team were honored with the All-Academic Team Award.

In order to be considered All-Academic, a student-athlete must carry a 3.25 cumulative grade point average and have been ranked in the top 96 nationally in any particular event. Both Targgart (weight throw) and Staley (pole vault) met the criteria.

Staley, a junior who hails from Farwell, is an integrative public relations major with a 3.55 GPA. Targgart, a Coldwater native, is working toward a master's in business administration and carries a 3.78 GPA. He holds a bachelor of science degree with a major in personal financial planning.

The Chippewa men's program earned its All-Academic Team honor by posting a 3.305 grade point average; the women's program posted a 3.486 GPA.
