Chippewa Men Return To Action On Tuesday

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – The Central Michigan men's basketball team is scheduled to play its first game in more than two weeks when it entertains Miami (Ohio) on Tuesday (5 p.m.) at McGuirk Arena.
The Chippewas are 6-12, 2-9 in the Mid-American Conference. They last played on Feb. 6, when they dropped a 67-65 decision to rival Western Michigan.
Miami is 9-9, 6-7 and coming off a 69-64 win at Northern Illinois on Saturday. That win snapped a four-game losing streak.
The Chippewas are 10th and the RedHawks are seventh in the MAC standings. The top eight teams in the conference advance to the league tournament in Cleveland.
The Chippewas are seventh in the conference in scoring at 77.4 points per game and they are allowing 77.7 (12th in the MAC) per game. Miami is eighth in the league in scoring (71.9 points per game) and ranks fifth defensively (72.8).
The RedHawks are second in the league with a .354 3-point field goal percentage and are third in free throw percentage (.774). Miami averages a league-worst 33.6 rebounds per game.
Individually, CMU junior Travon Broadway Jr. is fifth in the MAC in scoring at 17.9 points per game, while fellow junior Meikkel Murray is 14th at 14.2 per game. The Chippewas' Malik Muhammad, also a junior, is 11th in the conference with 6.9 rebounds per game.
Dae Dae Grant, a 6-foot-2 sophomore guard, leads the RedHawks in scoring at 14.9 points per game. Mikhi Lairy, a junior guard who is listed at 5-8, averaged 12.9 points per game, while 6-7 Delonte Brown averages 12.3 points and a team-best 7.4 rebounds per game.
Grant is making 43.4 percent of his 3-point attempts, good for fourth in the conference.
The Chippewas are scheduled to go to Buffalo on Thursday, Feb. 25 (2 p.m.) and to Ball State on Saturday, Feb. 27 (1 p.m.).
