Lacrosse Welcomes Oregon On Sunday

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – The Central Michigan lacrosse team is set to entertain Oregon on Sunday (11 a.m.) in a nonconference game at the CMU Lacrosse/Soccer Complex.
The Chippewas are 1-1 after an 11-10 season-opening victory over Marquette at home and a 16-10 loss at No. 25 Vanderbilt. It is the first meeting between the two programs. Oregon is 0-3 after a 16-4 loss at Marquette on Friday.
Sophomore Audrey Whiteside and Natalie Karlen have been the most productive Chippewas through two games. Each has seven points. Whiteside has six goals and an assists; Karlen has four goals and three assists.
CMU goalkeeper Sierra Savage has allowed 26 goals and made 17 saves. She carries a 13.00 goals-against average.
Statistically, the Chippewas have played their first two opponents fairly even, an accomplishment on which to build considering that both play in the BIG EAST and the Commodores are among the top 25 teams in the nation.
CMU has allowed 43 shots on goal while taking 37; the Chippewas have 43 ground balls to their credit to 38 for their opponents; CMU has committed 32 turnovers while causing 28; and CMU has 25 defensive clears to its opponents' 26.
The Chippewas are scheduled to go to Marquette on Friday, March 5 and then are set to open Mid-American Conference play on Sunday, March 7, at home against Detroit Mercy.
