Soccer Looks To Extend Streak At Ball State

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – The Central Michigan soccer team will look to continue its hot streak on Friday (3 p.m.) when it goes to Ball State for a Mid-American Conference game with the Cardinals.
The Chippewas (4-1-0) have won four-consecutive games, a streak that began with a 2-1 overtime victory at home over Ball State three weeks ago. CMU leads the MAC West and is tied with Bowling Green for the overall league lead.
CMU has shut out its last two opponents, Western Michigan and Northern Illinois, by a combined 5-0. Chippewa goalkeeper Allison LaPoint, a freshman, made a combined four saves in the two victories and was named the MAC Defensive Player of the Week on Monday.
Natalie Belsito leads CMU in both goals (3) and points (8), while Amanda Britain and Samantha Kaye-Toral both have two goals for four points.
The Chippewas rank second in the league with a 2.00 goals-per-game average. Bowling Green is first (2.40).
The Cardinals (3-1-1) are 2-0-1 since their loss in Mount Pleasant. They played Western Michigan to a scoreless tie and have beaten Northern Illinois, 2-0; and Eastern Michigan, 2-1.
