Another Successful Semester for CMU Student-Athletes

This is the 45th consecutive semester the department has had a semester GPA of 3.0 or higher.
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – The grades are in and, once again, Central Michigan student-athletes continue to excel academically as well as in competition.

CMU student-athletes earned a cumulative grade point average of 3.281 for the spring semester, marking the 45th consecutive semester that that number has been 3.00 or higher.

Overall, 287 student-athletes earned a GPA of 3.0 or higher during the semester and 53 posted a perfect 4.0. The cumulative GPA of Chippewa student-athletes stands at an impressive 3.285.
Fifty-one CMU student-athletes were awarded degrees during commencement in May.

"Our student-athletes continue to show why they are such an amazing group, tackling all the challenges of the past year and still having tremendous success in the classroom and on the playing fields." said Zyzlewski Family Associate Vice President/Director of Athletics Amy Folan. "I also credit our coaches and student-athlete support staff for all the hard work and effort they have put into helping our student-athletes reach these lofty marks.
"It was inspiring to watch 51 individuals reach their goal of graduating this spring and we will continue to strive to reach one of our most important goals of making sure each student-athlete leaves CMU with a diploma in one hand and championships rings on the other."
Twelve of CMU's 15 athletic teams earned a spring cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better and 13 of those programs carry a cumulative overall GPA of 3.0 or better.
CMU's women's cross country program posted the semester's top mark with a 3.840 GPA and also have the top cumulative GPA (3.827). The golf, lacrosse, track & field and field hockey programs also carry a cumulative overall GPA of 3.50 or better.
