MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. - Central Michigan softball head coach McCall Salmon has announced the addition of transfer Tessa Nuss to the Chippewas' roster.
"We are extremely excited that Tessa is joining the Chippewa softball program," said Salmon. "Her athleticism, speed and experience will provide an instant impact on our program."
Nuss, an outfielder from Lake Orion, Mich., comes to CMU after two seasons at Binghamton University. As a freshman, Nuss started 15 games, ranking second on the team in batting average (.326) and third in on-base percentage (.380) and slugging percentage (.348). She also tied for the team-lead in stolen bases with nine. As a sophomore, Nuss appeared in 16 games, making three starts. She was 7-for-7 on stolen base attempts. She was a two-time member of the AD Honor Roll.
A four-time all-league, all-district, all-region and all-state selection at Lake Orion High School, Nuss set the Michigan consecutive stolen base record with 125, which ranks fourth all-time nationally. Her career batting average of .587 ranks ninth in Michigan high school softball history. Nuss was the 2019 Detroit Free Press Player of the Year, a finalist Miss Softball and the Lake Orion Female Athlete of the Year as a senior. She was also named an Oakland Activities Association (OAA) Scholar-Athlete and was chosen All-State Academic.
