Thompson Earns Weekly MAC Award

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Central Michigan's Savannah Thompson earned the Mid-American Conference West Division Defensive Player of the Week Award on Tuesday.
Thompson, a senior outside hitter, posted a team best 48 digs (4.8 per set) in the Chippewas' three matches in the Flyer-Raider Invitational in Dayton, Ohio. Thompson, who hails from Thornton, Ill., also had four blocks on the weekend.
She finished with 20 digs in the Chippewas' tournament-opening loss to co-host Wright State, and then followed with 14 digs in a four-set victory over Illinois State, and then had 14 as CMU closed the tournament with a loss to Dayton.
