WBB Falls At Toledo

TOLEDO, Ohio – Toledo used a 16-2 run late in the second quarter and early in the third on Wednesday to defeat Central Michigan, 74-49, in a Mid-American Conference women's basketball game at Savage Arena.
CMU, which has lost three straight games, is 3-11, 1-4 MAC. The Rockets are 11-3 and lead the MAC at 5-0.
The Chippewas are scheduled to entertain Ohio on Saturday (1 p.m.) at McGuirk Arena. The Bobcats are 7-4, 1-1 after a 70-64 home victory over Kent State on Wednesday.
The Rockets hit 43.1 percent from the floor, making eight of 28 from 3-point range. CMU hit 29.3 percent and just three of its 21 3-point tries. The three triples tied a season low for CMU.
CMU led briefly in the first quarter before Toledo went on a 13-4 spurt to build its largest lead of the first half, 24-12, with just over six minutes remaining in the second quarter.
The Chippewas closed the gap to three, 27-24, late in the first half, but Toledo scored the final four points of the quarter and then outscored CMU 12-2 to open the third, extending their lead to 17, 43-26. The Chippewas never got closer than 12 points the rest of the way.
Molly Davis scored 26 points to lead the Chippewas but was held to a 9-of-28 shooting night from the floor, including two for 11 from 3-point range.
No other Chippewa scored in double figures.
