WBB Falls At Eastern Michigan

YPSILANTI, Mich. – Eastern Michigan jumped to a 16-2 lead midway through the first quarter on Saturday in defeating Central Michigan, 80-60, in a Mid-American Conference women's basketball game at the Gervin GameAbove Center.
The Chippewas fall to 3-10 overall and 1-3 in the MAC. Their road trip continues with a trip to Savage Arena on Wednesday, Jan. 12 (7 p.m.) to take on Toledo. The Rockets are 10-3, 4-0 after a 76-67 win at Western Michigan on Saturday.
EMU hit 45.2 percent from the floor to CMU's 37.5 percent and made seven of their 20 3-point attempts. The Chippewas were six of 18 from long range.
CMU never got closer than nine points after EMU's game-opening surge. CMU trailed 44-29 at halftime and was down by as many as 27 points in the third quarter. The Chippewas managed to trim their deficit to 15, 69-54, with a run spanning the late third and early fourth quarters but could get no closer.
Molly Davis made four of her nine 3-point attempts to finish with a team-high 20 points to lead CMU. Jahari Smith added 15 points and nine rebounds, falling one rebound shy of her fourth consecutive double-double.
Freshman Lisa Tesson finished with a season-high 13 points for the Chippewas. Anika Weekes, in her second back since missing three consecutive games, grabbed 10 rebounds.
