Volleyball Falls In 3 Sets At Bowling Green

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Central Michigan volleyball team fell in straight sets on Friday to Mid-American Conference East Division-leader Bowling Green at the Falcons' Stroh Center.
The Chippewas are 11-7, 4-3 MAC. The Falcons are 11-7, 6-1. The teams are scheduled to play a finale on Saturday, Oct. 16 (4 p.m.).
CMU finished with a .041 attack percentage, its second lowest of the season.
Of the three sets, the Chippewas were strongest in the first, tying the Falcons 14 times in the set before eventually falling, 28-26. CMU hit at .105 in the set, its best of the match. And the Chippewas utilized four blocks to hold the Falcons to .186, their lowest of the evening.
CMU hit -.087 in set two as the Falcons forced the Chippewas' first timeout at an 8-2 lead, and at 15-7, their second. Without finding a lead in the second set, the Chippewas fell, 25-15.
After a 4-0 BGSU run to kick off the third set, CMU strung together a run of its own and led momentarily, 5-4. It would be the final time the Chippewas, who hit .089 in the final set, would lead before BGSU swept the match, 25-17.
Senior opposite hitter Anna Erickson tallied a career-high and team-high seven blocks and added four kills to lead CMU. Senior middle blocker Maddie Whitfield followed with six blocks and four kills as the Chippewas finished with 10 total blocks. Bowling Green had 12 blocks on the night.
Freshman outside hitter Natalia Rejment led the Chippewa offense with 11 kills. Claire Ammeraal posted 22 assists and Aly Gurtiza finished with 27 digs.
